Wellbeing Sessions
INTRODUCTION
Wellbeing Sessions
Our Equine Wellbeing Sessions are the perfect opportunity to take some time to yourself and reconnect with nature, to escape the fast paced environment we live in and enjoy some chill out time with our ponies.
If you are struggling with your mental health, anxieties or just want to have a cuddle with our furry friends then this is the session for you.
The Power of Human-Equine Interaction
Studies indicate horses offer unique traits that have made them a top choice for animal-assisted therapies. Horses are naturally gentle, calm creatures with an ability to mirror and respond to human behaviour, so are highly effective at interacting and working with others in a patient and non-judgemental manner.Working with horses requires non-verbal communication skills. As humans become more aware of their own body sensations and better able to attune to the horse’s body to understand what is being communicated to them, the horse and human are able to engage in a two-way conversation, which may in time result in social bonding.
At Spirit of The Herd we want to give people the chance to experience the joy of interacting, learning, gaining skills and playing with our therapy ponies whilst being present in nature as the site is in a rural setting surrounded by woodlands. Our sessions also provide parents/ guardians time to relax and socialise with other parents/ guardians.
